Anxiety Disorders
Anxiety disorders include disorders that share features of excessive fear and anxiety and related behavioural disturbances. Fear is the emotional response to real or perceived threat where whereas anxiety is the anticipation of future threat. While they both seem to overlap, manifestations of anxiety and fear differ. Fear leads to autonomic arousal needed for fight or flight response, escape behaviour or tackling thoughts of immediate danger. Anxiety is more associated with tensions related to preparation for future danger and cautious or avoidant behaviour.
One such type of anxiety disorder is Social Anxiety disorder. Social Anxiety Disorder is marked by fear or anxiety of social situations in which the individual perceives that they will be exposed to scrutiny by others, negatively evaluated, get embarrassed.
